Our Projects
Crop Innovations works across crop diversity, soil health, biodiversity monitoring, and sustainable agriculture. Our projects combine applied research and on-farm trials to support farmers, agribusinesses, and policymakers. We focus on practical solutions that strengthen crop value chains, improve resilience, and ensure benefits are felt by the communities involved.
This project is advancing automated acoustic monitoring tools that can collect biodiversity and environmental data across a variety of landscapes. The basis of this work is a network of sensors which take in sound from wildlife and use AI to automatically analyse results. The aim is to build easy to use systems for tracking ecosystem health and understanding how this can be used to improve farming methods.
By turning microbial by-products into a practical field-ready product, this project explores a novel way to strengthen soil resilience and support more sustainable crop production.
We’re testing an oxygen-rich water treatment on commercial poultry farms to see whether cleaner, better-quality drinking water can improve bird welfare, productivity, and sustainability in one of the UK’s most important food sectors.
Local crop varieties hold immense untapped value for food security. GenePrint is developing low-cost genetic tools to help farmers identify, protect, and market their traditional seed collections, starting with common beans in Zambia
